Letter Concerning Parts

I'm glad to hear that you and the Maico are doing well. Sorry it has taken so long for me to get back to you, but I recently had to move my shop, and most of my Maico information is packed away. Getting in touch with the Maico Owner's Club is a good start (By the way, the club needs new volunteers in some of its positions -- care to edit the newsletter??). I have also found a few places for spares, but none in North America.

  • Rubber Parts (floor mat repros, tail light gasket, pedal rubbers, mudflaps, etc.)

  • Cables (original style) using old cable as pattern

  • Willie Biallass has created a great collection of dimensioned technical drawings of tons of Maicoletta parts. He sent me a bunch of drawings at no charge (wiring diagram, kickstand assembly, cable details, starter, etc.) He must be truly insane.

  • Karl-Heinz Tobiasch machines gears, and might be a good source for transmission parts. He also has a lot of second hand spares, and scans the swap meets for any parts you might need.
    Rappmuhl Strasse 18
    64331 Weiterstadt Germany
  • Should you need speedo or clock repair or restoration, Palo Alto Speedometer did a nice job on mine in January 1997. I paid a fortune to have new artwork for the screens created, so they should have the screens on hand. Contact Harmut Mees @ 415-323-0243

I have a couple of technical articles about the starter. One of which is a (German) Bosch article, which I had translated into English. Let me know if you want copies of what I have.

Good luck with school, and please let me know how the Maico progresses. I will be in D.C. on a whirlwind weekend in September for a friends wedding, but I probably won't have a chance to call.

Cheers,

Chris
